Day 5 Preview

We have 9 athletes competing later today and after the good performances of today the Irish camp must be in good spirits.

At 10:50 local time Andrew Bree swims in the semi-final of the 200m breaststroke after smashing his Irish record in the heats. He will have at least two races today with the 200 individual medley still to come at 19:46. Bree will have to smash his Irish record again if he is to have a realistic chance of making the final, he is in good form so who knows?

13:00-19:00 Sailing

Men’s 470 races 5 and 6
Ger Owens, Phil Lawton finished 17th and 15th yesterday and lie 13th overall after four races. They need some good finishes if they are to get back in the mix.

Women’s Laser races 3 and 4
Ciara Peelo began her campaign in the Laser Radial placing 23rd and 17th yesterday and is 25th overall, Ciara will be disappointed with this poor start and she will want to score some good results soon but thankfully it's only day 1 and she is bound to put on a better show.

Men’s Finn races 7 and 8
After six races in the Finn class Tim Goodbody lies 21st overall and will be looking to improve on his ranking. He had a day off yesterday so hopefully he will have recovered well and used his time off to prepare right.

16:50 Rowing – Men’s Four Semi-Final
The Irish team of Cormac Folan, Sean Casey, Jonathon Devlin and Sean O’Neill will be fighting for a place in the final against some real quality competition. Their heat on Saturday was the first time that combination of rowers had competed in competitive action so they will have used their time in between races to tweak a few things and if they have a good race, a place in the final is a real possibility.
